The fund is managed by Steve Hewitt and Alex Avella, who were both at Threadneedle running the Crescendo fund and joined Moore Capital in 2008. They span out of Moore in 2011 as Bramshott Capital which closed in 2014 when they returned capital. After a brief stop at Visium they joined Alliance Bernstein’s multi-pm platform (Arya). At its heart this is a concentrated, market neutral strategy with a focus on isolating and delivering idiosyncratic stock picking. The aim of the product is to compound consistent, uncorrelated returns. 50% of time is spent on stock selection, 50% is spent on portfolio construction. Stock selection is focused on identifying ‘change’, both positive and negative. The thesis is based upon the fact that the market isn’t very good at understanding the compounding nature of change, as such they have a range of holding periods, can be relatively short duration (6 months) through to multi-year.
