The Aperture European Innovation Fund is a 130/30 fundamental bottom-up portfolio targeting companies experiencing or likely to experience significant inflection in their businesses and markets driven by innovation. The strategy focuses on investing alongside the innovation “S Curve” (early adoption, mass market, saturation) with the aim to identify companies with sustainable innovation drivers. These are either under-appreciated growth, competitive advantage or re-rating opportunities. Stock selection relies on a highly efficient and time tested idea generation process which combines in-depth fundamental research with the understanding of consensus view and top-down awareness to determine a best ideas portfolio of 30-50 investments (10-20 short ideas). The ability to adapt to market conditions is critical to enhance risk adjusted stock picking returns, and this is largely a by-product of the PM’s pragmatic approach to risk management.
